  • You Don’t Need to Buy That Projector

Most small businesses are very concerned with their bottom line . This is especially true of newer companies that have limited capital and are constantly faced with choosing where to invest that capital to get the most return for the business. It can be very difficult to know which expenses are worth the money and which can be delayed until your company builds a larger client base.

The best place to cut corners in in office equipment. Whenever possible small businesses should look into renting or leasing equipment rather than buying it. The rise of powerpoint presentations has led many companies to believe that they need to have a dedicated laptop as well as purchase a high quality projector and screen. The reality is that it is very easy to find an affordable projector rental as well as to rent a screen to go with it. Most companies only need to host an in house presentation on an occasional basis. Spending thousands of dollars on equipment that will be gathering dust most of the year is bad business. It’s much better to rent when needed and return the equipment when done.

This process can be applied to any office equipment from copy machines to camcorders and even laptops and desktop computers. Why buy computers for temporary or seasonal employees when you can rent or lease them? If you can outsource copying, faxing, or even printing and save on the purchase and upkeep of the same equipment, then do so. Projectors are just a starting point for identifying equipment that would be better rented than purchased.
