  • Benefits of Solar Power

Solar power is not a new invention. Although the sun has existed since the beginning of time, it has only been recently that we have developed the technology to harness the sun’s energy and make it accessible to the average person. We have all seen the giant solar panels on houses and businesses and have wondered if they are really as great as we have been led to believe.

There are some really great benefits to utilizing solar panels. For one, the sun’s energy is a renewable resource . As long as the sun exists it will produce energy. And if the sun ceases to exist so will we, so at that point it won’t matter. Oil on the other hand is not renewable. Once it’s gone that’s it, no more. Maintenance wise, solar panels are much easier to maintain. They are quite and they don’t move so there isn’t much that you have to do to maintain them.

One of the disadvantages that people like to point out about solar panels is the cost to have them installed. They can be pricey up front but there are California solar rebates that can help make them more affordable and, once they are installed, you no longer have to worry about your electricity bill. There are also some areas, such as Alaska, that have long periods of darkness in the winter that would make solar panels hard to use, but technology is constantly improving so there may come a day when that is not an issue.
