The largest rugby festival in the world will take place in Sydney September 26th through October 3rd. Based at the Centennial Parklands (close to the city’s central business district), the 18th Air New Zealand Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival is expected to draw more than 200 teams from 18 countries. Held every two years, the Festival is limited to players 35 years and older. Countries attending include Argentina, Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, and the United States.

The Golden Oldies movement focuses on fun, friendship and fraternity. No scores are kept during the matches and every team plays three games during the event. The World Festival is known for the novel playing gear brought by teams as well as rehearsed performances, and some spontaneous ones. The World Festival has been played around the world since 1979.

The Festival kicks off with an Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party and closes with the Grande Finale Dinner and Air NZ Awards Ceremony. Organizers expect over 6000 players and fans to fill Sydney hotel s for three days of rugby and a full week of fun.
