The Beaches of Fort Lauderdale

When I would think about Fort Lauderdale in the past, I had in my thoughts images of the party videos taking during many years of students “gone wild” on spring break. For those years, I was not sure it would ever be a city I would enjoy spending time in, but since then I have learned about the many other activities people can find to do in the city, and the many other beaches that offer much more than adolescent parties.
For one, just off of the coast in the Northern section of Fort Lauderdale, is a natural coral reef, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. This is a tiny and quaint little seaside town, with many small luxury hotels. Fort Lauderdale, as stated before, has many options in the way of crowded beaches, but this is the area perfect for those who want to experience the quieter side, with many fine restaurants, and many opportunities for scuba diving and snorkeling excursions through the coral reef. The vibe here is extremely laid back.
North Beach is a quiet and natural environment as well. There are hot spots and night clubs in town, but the beach is separate from that hustle and bustle and has become one of the most attractive beaches in Florida for many who wish to escape that noise and take some time experience nature in all her magnificence. This is where you will find the Birch State Park. Hiking, picnicking and canoeing are the activities to be found in this park, making it the perfect get-away for nature lovers of all ages.
South Beach has been revitalized over the last few years, and along these shores you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the state. This is the place to go if you do wish to find nightclubs, and there are many wonderful restaurants and boutique shops for those looking for beachwear and eclectic jewelery. I found that there really is much more to Fort Lauderdale than spring break images, there truly is a beach for everyone.
