Hong Kong is for Shopping

Hong Kong’s Victoria Peak has been shrouded in clouds and haze ever since I arrived here. Today, though, my last full day before travelling to Bangkok, the view was absolutely clear. Hong Kong is a stunning site on a clear day, totally amazing.
So, I plan for the day was to take the Victoria Tram, walk a bit around the Peak and then do my final shopping. I left my hotel in Hong Kong clutching on to my street map and strode confidently to the Star Ferry terminal. About an hour later, I was still strolling up and down the same streets, my confidence gone and I was lost. I found myself walking along streets that consisted of ‘live-in’ shops and I suddenly heard a very familiar sound, the clattering of Mah Jong tiles being hurled down. I was only a few streets away from the bustling of Central Hong Kong and I was surrounded with the sounds, sights and smells of the old colony.
My spirits were lifted, so I continued to blunder on, and quite by accident, I found myself in front of the Victoria Tram terminal. I purchased a ticket and wedged myself in among the waiting throng of tourist and locals. I has a long wait before I could hop aboard the tram. We rattled uphill and the incline was so steep, my back was pressed up against my seat. I walked around the Peak after having a spectacular time viewing all of Hong Kong at the terrace. Then it was time for lunch at the terrace restaurant. My feet were beginning to pulse, so the lunch rest was much in need. I needed my feet to perform well for me later when I shop, then they can drop.
After taking the Tram back down, it was time to do some Hong Kong shopping. Hong Kong is simply mind-blowing when it comes to malls. Fabulous clothes and accessories, Hi-tech toys and a drooling amount of other delightful items. We I finally looked up from all my shopping, it was beginning to get dark! I must have spent 5 hours shopping! I headed to the Star Ferry, back to my hotel, loaded down with shopping bags. I must have amused all the people on the ferry. But, Hong Kong has proving to be a soul satisfying city. Totally.
